Six Month Growth Spurt

Serif's pediatrician told us to expect some growth spurts around six months but this is ridiculous! i found this quite hilarious although Michelle wasn't really amused. i'm risking a lot posting these so enjoy them while you can, she might remove them soon.

He said 'Momma'!

Serif said 'Mom-ma' the other day. It was so clear. I was laying him in our bed and he said it. I froze and stared at him, bug eyed and completely at a loss for words. Jeff looked at me and said, 'Did he just say Momma?'. I freaked out! I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I'll take it!!!

Teeth!

Serif's been working on getting these 2 teeth for a while now but they finally broke through about a week or so ago. We've been trying to get pictures but have had a hard time getting one that shows them. I didn't want to wait any longer to post this so I took this photo today. The only way I could take it was to take it upside down. He will normally pull away when you try to look at them. I guess this kept his curiosity a little better, long enough for me to capture them!

He's Finally Made It!

Serif's been trying to roll over for the past month. Last week when I would put him down in his bed for the night he immediately rolled to his side and went back to sleep. It was a moment to remember for me because before now he would always just raise his little arms (like Cornholio) and turn his head to the side and fall asleep. So this was a completely new thing for him.Last Saturday he was on our bed and he rolled all the way over to his belly. He's finally made it all the way over! Then at daycare, they told me he was starting to do it a lot. I've caught him doing it a few other times this week too. Today when we got home from work and daycare, I tried to put him down for a nap. When I went to check on him he was like this. He is getting stronger and stronger with it.
I got him up and played with him and then tried again later. He didn't act like he was going to fall asleep right away once he hit the bed so I turned on his little light-up musical sun . . . again. He loves watching it and you can see his eyes follow the flashing colored lights as they move to the music. Well, I guess he was just more in the mood to play with that than sleep. He stayed on his side playing with it for a minute or so and then flipped on over to his belly. One thing he hasn't learned yet however is getting himself back over to his back. So he makes some noise to let me know he needs me to come rescue him. I'm hoping this isn't going to be a nightly routine . . . I guess we'll see soon enough.

Playtime at 5 Months

Serif's latest favorite pastime is the jumperoo. He absolutely loves that thing! He's getting to the point where he'll stay in it for quite some time. He stays so content and just plays and jumps and jabbers and squeals. He's quite entertaining in there. These were a couple of photos taken a couple weeks ago, but two of my favorites of him in there.
Serif doesn't care as much for tummy time, but he'll put up with for a short amount of time. He was actually getting in to his playmat this time and checking out the little worm that's attached. Now one thing the little guy does enjoy is the television. I think Dad enjoys that fact, but it concerns me a little. You can see by the second picture that he's no longer looking at the worm, that's because he's looking at the television!
One other thing he's been enjoying more this month is this activity mat. Since he's been a little more coordinated with his movements and grabbing things, he's really enjoying swinging his arms and grabbing the toys. One new thing he's been doing for the past month is twisting his body trying to turn over. He kept turning to look at me as I was taking the pictures. He's certainly learned the camera.

Happy Easter

My sister had a big lunch at her house for Easter and I was signed up for the sweet potatoes. I had plenty of help from Jeff and Serif and they turned out just perfect. Since solid foods are just around the corner for Serif, we decided to let him try a bite of sweet potatoes and he loved them! Dad insisted on him trying a marshmallow after that and he seemed to like that too. Of coarse we didn't let him eat it, he just sucked on it for a second. He seemed to take to it pretty well though. Serif's been eating cereal at bedtime for about a month now and has grown to really love it. I think we'll be starting cereal for breakfast tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Progression with Sitting Up

Serif has been trying to sit up for a few weeks now but folds up like a sandwich every time he tries. He's slowly been improving and finally this past week has shown much improvement. So here's a few of our favorite photos to capture the development.

A Visit to the Hospital

Serif and I went to the hospital in Murfreesboro today to visit my neice, Lindsay (Serif's cousin). She went to the doctor yesterday about her throat being swollen and was sent to the hospital with Abscessed Tonsillitis. She had to stay the night last night and they watched her very closely in fear that her throat would swell shut. Fortunaletly the night went well and she was able to have the surgery this morning. We didn't get to see her before her surgery, but were there for her when she got out. She was in high spirits and immediately wanted Serif. They played together, cuddled and even napped together. Lindsay's so sweet with him. I think they like each other pretty well. These are just a few photos from the afternoon. We love you Lindsay! Hope you get better quickly!

Mmmm . . . Tastes Like Chicken

So I thought the day would never come that Serif could actually get his foot in his mouth. I thought his little belly would prevent that from happening. He proved us wrong this week. Would you look at that.

My First Predators Game

Saturday night i went to my very first Predators game with Uncle Nooner, Aunt Shannon and some of their friends (and mommy and daddy). Here are some of my favorite pictures from the night.

Aunt Shannon, it's noisy and scary in here but your hair tastes good.

Whatever you just put on my head is NOT helping!

OK, all better now.

You crazy Joe. Crazy but funny!

Uncle Nooner, why they chase each other with sticks?

What was that loud buzzer and why is everybody singing Tim McGraw?

Uncle Nooner, why you pick me up like this and why am I on that big TV?

Hey, I'm Fan of the Game!

Uncle Nooner, that wasn't milk in that cup was it?

Being Fan of the Game (or whatever Uncle Nooner gave me to drink) really made me tired.

Mommy, can we get a big TV like that one?

Uncle Nooner and Cousin Anelia won jerseys!

So i get to wear one of these when i get big, right?

Jamie, you make me giggle and slobber.

OK, i go home and go to bed now.
